All Sci-Fi movies that I have seen and managed to review

Stargate

PG 13, 119 minutes long, science fiction.

"When a mysterious woman makes Professor Daniel Jackson (James Spader) an offer he can't refuse, he ends up in a secret Airforce military base. His mission: to decode an ancient Egyptian artifact known as the Stargate.

The mission leader, Colonel Jack O'Neil (Kurt Russell), a tough military man with nerves of steel, commandeers their trip through the Stargate to an ancient civilization on the other side of the known universe. But once there, they must battle the astoundingly powerful Sun God, Ra (Jaye Davidson), before they can find their way back home."

This is one of my favourite movies and I have rated it with a 10.

Titan AE

"A reluctant hero holds the key to the future of mankind ... It is the year 3028 and the Drej ... have destroyed Earth. Fifteen years later a young man named Cale (Matt Damon) learns he possesses a genetically encoded map to the Titan, a spaceship that holds the secret to the salvation of the human race."

This was written on the back of the DVD cover. DVD includes deleted scenes, directors' commentaries, original trailor, etc. Rated PG for violence and alcohol content.

My rating for it is a 8. It is well written, not terribly hard to follow, and the message is uplifting: good will always over come evil, but those on the side of good must make an effort to do so or fail entirely. It is rather dark for an animated feature, but it is about time they introduce a good animated sci-fi movie. What is also great it is by Don Bluth and not an import! Produced by 20th Century Fox.

Pluto Nash

A moon dweller is living the life of Riley as a club owner when he is offered an obscene amount of money for his club. The thing is, he doesn't wish to sell. This club is his dream and he can't bear to part with it. Soon, after many rejections, the person giving him his offers attacks Pluto Nash and his club. He goes on a wild adventure accross the moon scape to go after the person who is seeking his life. Stars Eddie Murphy, Randy Quaid, and Rosario Dawson.

The rating is PG 13 for sexuality, violence, and bad language. It also includes the controversial topic of cloning - with the controversy in the story line - and a scene where a robot gives the mafia "the finger".

Ok, I saw it on HBO with my Dad. It was more of a satire/farce of sci-fi, but it was amusing enough to keep my attention. I will rate it a 5, because it was amusing, but the over use of sexual humor, "the finger" and bad language.

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy

Fellowship of the Ring:

Young Frodo is given an wealthy inheritance, but the true and tiny prize is the gorgeous golden ring. Soon, though, his uncle's best friend - Gandolf - comes and delivers to him some dire news. He must engage in a life threatening quest to destroy his precious ring or the entire of Middle Earth will be seized and layed to waste by Sauron, an evil demon sorceror. The epic tale only begins with this tale. PG 13 - violence.

Two Towers:

The Fellowship has been broken up and the war is raging at full tilt. Sauromon has betrayed the forest and his wizard circle. Gandolf makes his return and the trees attack. PG 13 - violence.

Return of the King:

Gollum shows his true colors. The one true king takes his place and raises up an army from the dead. Great earthquakes, lava, and brutal battles. PG 13 - violence.

10! I love this trillogy! I hope that they will make The Hobbit, the prequel to the trillogy. I also wouldn't object to a series based off of the other books having to do with the tales of Middle Earth.

The Dark Crystal

"In another time, The Dark Crystal - a source of Balance and Truth in the Universe - was shattered, dividing the world into two factions: the wicked Skeksis and the peaceful Mystics. Now, as the convergence of the three suns approaches, the Crystal must be healed, or darkness will reign forevermore!

It's up to Jen - the last of his race - to fulfill the prophesy that a Gelfling will return the missing shard to the Crystal and destroy the Skeksis' evil empire."

Rated PG for intensity.

It has strong moral lessons on loyalty, perseverance, and self-sacrifice. Good movie. I can't help but love it. Jim Henson really out did himself here. This is definitely not your average Muppet film. I give it a 9, because of what I just said. The only reason it is not higher is that the pace was rather slow for a sci-fi.

Sailor Victory

This one is an ANIME. Rated PG13 but it should have been rated for 16 up or higher: language, nudity, violence and sexual harassment. It makes fun of Ronin Warriors, the Gundum franchise, and Sailor Moon. Contains: 3 goofy oddball girls, mega technical robot that looks like one of the girls, and three "gundam" style giant robots. There are two stories on the DVD and both together come to about 60 minutes.

The plot is simple and short. The voice acting is decent. The story could have been shorter. Finally, the over use of profanity, stupid police in giant robots, and the not so brief nudity scenes I would say that it fell quite short of my personal standards for anime and I will also add that it was not what I expected. Yes, I expected a humorous satire but the humor lasted for a small amount of time and then later in bursts. My final rating - 1, I should have NEVER EVER bought it! I guess since I paid only for it I should be happy that was all I paid, but I shall return it post haste.
